Zaccone's Restaurant

Overview

Discover Zaccone's Restaurant, a family-run Italian dining destination at 3151 Cottman Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19149, United States. Serving the neighborhood since the early 1990s, this intimate restaurant favors traditional Italian-American comfort over modern trends. From a food blogger’s perspective, Zaccone's Restaurant stands out for made-to-order dishes, warm hospitality, generous portions, and the feeling of eating in a welcoming family home. It is particularly appealing for date nights, family celebrations, and relaxed dinners where conversation matters as much as the meal.

The menu centers on classic pasta, chicken, veal, seafood, steaks, and homemade-style desserts. Popular choices include Chicken Saltimbocca, Veal Piccata, Veal with Mushrooms, Eggplant Parmesan, NY Strip Steak, and seasonal seafood preparations. Exact current prices are not consistently published online, but the restaurant is generally categorized in the $$ range, with diners frequently describing the pricing as reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Reservations are recommended because the dining room is relatively small. Zaccone’s is also BYOB, offers takeout and table service, provides high chairs, and has wheelchair-accessible facilities. One important detail is its cash-only policy, so arriving prepared avoids an inconvenient trip to an ATM.

A strong introduction to Zaccone's Restaurant in Philadelphia is the Chicken Saltimbocca. This Italian-American favorite combines tender chicken with savory cured meat and a rich sauce, producing layers of salty, buttery flavor without losing the delicate texture of the chicken. Saltimbocca appears repeatedly among customer favorites and is one of the dishes that best reflects the kitchen’s traditional approach.

The Veal Piccata is another dependable choice. Thin, tender veal works particularly well with the bright acidity and richness associated with classic piccata preparations, creating a plate that feels lighter than heavier red-sauce entrées. A January 2026 customer also praised a meal of clams in white sauce followed by veal with arugula and green beans, highlighting the restaurant’s fresh preparation and attentive family-run service.

Dessert is worth saving room for. Ricotta Cheesecake provides a creamy, lightly sweet finish, while Chocolate Mousse Cake and cannoli are also frequently mentioned by diners. Recent customers have specifically praised the desserts, adding another reason to linger after the main course rather than rushing through dinner.

The atmosphere at Zaccone's Restaurant is cozy, nostalgic, and distinctly personal. A February 2026 diner praised the restaurant’s fresh, authentic food and described the setting as warm and inviting, while another longtime customer compared dining here to visiting a friend’s house. The small dining room enhances that intimate character, although it also means securing a reservation is wise on busy evenings.

For anyone exploring the best restaurants in Philadelphia for traditional local dining experiences, Zaccone's Restaurant deserves consideration for its veal, Chicken Saltimbocca, homemade desserts, BYOB format, and genuine family atmosphere. Call +1 215-335-2435, bring your favorite bottle and cash, and settle in for an old-school Italian dinner with plenty of neighborhood charm.

Family owned and operated restaurant since 1992. For the last 10 or so years we’ve patronized this family restaurant and can honestly say never had a bad meal. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. Nowadays there’s not a big menu to get lost in however what they offer is a collection of their best dishes throughout the years that does not disappoint along with daily additions. If your looking for a quiet cozy dining experience look no further then Zaccone’s say hello to the mom and dad working the floor along side their daughter and granddaughters while the son is the chef in the kitchen. This is so rare in today’s world with the entire family playing a part in this business. Help make this their best year ever. Tonight we went with Veal Parm & the best Rib Eye I’ve had in a while. Great dinner thank you. BYOB cash only

This place is special to me. Used to go with my grandmother and great uncle (both Italian) who lived very close. The family would always come over and speak Italian and be extremely welcoming. Now the food, delicious. My grandmother and great uncle both passed recently so I need to go back with my wife!! Can’t wait to get here again!

This cozy hidden gem is a family owned and operated Italian cuisine delight. It's a BYOB so at least you're not getting beat up for overcharged drinks. The servings sizes were just right for one person. The taste was delicious. I had the Saltambucca. It was seasoned just right, the meat, tender. All the food that was brought out looked incredible and no one in my party of eight had a complaint about any of it. I got to the dinner almost an hour late so I can't speak for the time before i arrived. The service was very personal. They treated us well, and were very friendly. They checked on us frequently and made sure everything was to our liking. I will definitely return. It's a great spot for a large family dinner or a date night.

To be in a little house in the midst of houses, this place is a hidden gem. I think they can do a little more with the decor but the food was absolutely fantastic! The bread was standard and so was the salad but the entrees, that was where it was at!

My hubs and I Had a delicious dinner New Years Eve 2023 We were a little early, but we’re still treated like it was no big deal. Staff was great and talked kindly with Mama Zaconne. We have been coming here for years and the food and staff do not disappoint. Happy New Year to the Zaconne family.
